The Island of Maui, The Valley Isle, has several coffee farms spanning from the famous resort area of Kaanapali, to the slopes of Haleakala, and to an organic farm in Hana.

The largest Maui coffee orchard is located high above the beaches of Kaanapali, on the West Maui Mountains’ slopes. This estate worked with the University of Hawaii, in a process similar to wine grape selection, to test 18 coffee varieties.

Four varieties mokka, yellow catura, red catuai and typica were selected for their superior quality and compatibility with local growing conditions. To date, 500 acres of coffee have been planted on converted sugar cane lands with emphasis on state of the art cultivating methods, including diligent nursery, planting, crop maintenance, mechanical harvesting, and processing.
